Let us look after your suspension, so you can enjoy a safe and comfortable ride

Kenya's no. 1 suspension experts

Your car’s suspension system is integral to your safety on the road. It can have a significant impact on your braking, steering, and tyre wear. Your car suspension can make the difference between a smooth, safe ride, and a bumpy driving experience with poor handling.

If your car shows signs of suspension problems, such as poor handling, damaged shock absorbers, or dipping forward when braking, it’s time to book your car in at the nearest Oriel service center for a suspension service.

Our qualified auto service mechanics will thoroughly check your suspension system, and let you know if any of its components are damaged or in need of replacement. We’ll talk you through the work required and costs charged upfront, so you can get your car in perfect working order for the price you expect.

Stay safe on the roads with regular suspension checks

Your car’s suspension system is made up of many components including shock absorbers, springs, ball joints, tie rod ends and suspension bushes. Together they work to maintain the contact between your tyres and the road, and provide a smooth, comfortable ride even when the road is in poor condition.

However, if just one of the parts of your suspension system is worn or damaged, your whole system may become ineffective resulting in longer stopping times and/or distances during braking. This also negatively affects your ability to stay in control of your vehicle. That is why it’s so important to have your suspension checked regularly to make sure every component is in good working order.

When do you need your suspension checked?

At a minimum your suspension should be inspected at every service, and whenever your remove your car’s wheels.

However, outside of your regular service it’s important to look out for signs that your suspension system is experiencing problems.
If you notice a problem, drop into the nearest Oriel service center and let one
of our qualified mechanics take a look so you can stay safe on the road.

Signs when driving

Check for these signs when your car is in motion:

  • Your car dips forward when braking
  • Your car doesn’t handle properly around corners
  • Your car bounces when you drive
  • Your car has poor handling and excessive body roll on corners

Sometimes changes to your suspension system, especially to the performance of your shock absorbers, can be difficult to notice at first as they wear out over time.

If you’re not sure if there’s a problem with your car, visit your nearest Oriel service center and let our qualified mechanics check your suspension system. We can then let you know if we have found any problems, and if so, what work needs to be done.

We undertake any work we perform with quality in mind, and only use a genuine or equivalent range of shock absorbers, springs, struts and suspension replacement parts.

How does a suspension system work?

Your car’s suspension system is designed to give you complete driving control and a smooth, comfortable ride.

Suspension systems vary greatly between makes and models, but most consist of a chassis or frame, shock absorbers, struts, coil springs and leaf springs.

As you accelerate, any bumps you pass over in the road cause your car’s forward energy to be converted into vertical energy, which consequently travels through your car’s chassis.

Coil and leaf springs absorb this vertical energy preventing your vehicle from jumping up off the road. Next, shock absorbers and struts dissipate the energy absorbed by coil springs, so any vertical motion is quickly reduced to zero.

If your suspension system is well maintained, you’ll barely notice bumps you pass over on the road. However, if your shock absorbers or struts are worn, you and your passengers are in for an uncomfortable ride. As a result, it’s important for both your safety and comfort that your suspension system is in good working order.
